Enable Congestion and Load Shedding
To enable congestion and load shedding:
- On the MiVoice Border Gateway main page, click the System tab and click Congestion and load shedding.
- Select Enable under a bandwidth limit is exceeded to reject new calls if bandwidth would exceed this value, in Kbps.Note: When Enable is selected, a drop down is presented which includes Bandwidth Limit settings before calls are rejected. For example, if the link to MBG is only 1 Mbps then ideally the administrator would set the limit to 1Mbps so that new calls would be rejected if the bandwidth would exceed this value. Value in drop down is between 1 Mbps to 100 Gbps.
- Select Enable under a cpu threshold is exceeded to reject new calls if the core process CPU usage, in percent, exceeds this value.Note: When Enable is selected, a drop down is presented which includes a Percentage setting of total CPU Usage (averaged over 5 minutes) before calls are rejected. For example, 40%.
- Select Enable under a virtual memory swap limit is exceeded to reject new calls if the core process is experiencing memory swapping that exceeds this rate in swaps per second.Note: When Enable is selected, a drop down is presented with values (for example, 100 swaps/s). The administrator can apply which will result in rejected calls when the value is achieved.
Click Save.
Note: Emergency calls are always allowed.
