MPA Integration

Use this procedure to configure settings for integration with a third-party fault and performance management application such as the Mitel Performance Analytics (MPA).

Once the connection has been configured, MiVoice Border Gateway will forward its voice quality statistics to the remote application in the form of JSON-based RTCP data or through SIP PUBLISH messages to a configured server (such as a Voice Quality collector). The remote application will capture and interpret the data, and then graph it for use by system administrators.

To configure MPA settings:

  1. On the MBG main page, click the Teleworking tab and click Application integration.

  2. Click to add a record.

  3. In the MPA Integration frame, enter or edit the options as required and then click Save:

Field

Description

Payload type

Select the format for the data:
  • JSON: MiVoice Border Gateway generates JSON RTCP data for MiNet Teleworker set calls and SIP Trunk calls that flow through MBG. MBG sends the JSON RTCP data to the Voice Quality Collector.

  • SIP PUBLISH: MiVoice Border Gateway forwards RTCP Summary reports it receives (for example, MiCollab Client Softphone in Teleworker mode) on its SIP Signaling connections to the RFC-6035 compliant Voice Quality collector (such as, the MPA Probe).

  • JSON + SIP PUBLISH: This option combines the two payload types and enforces TLS transport. Additionally, it requires an SSL out profile. While SSL out profiles are pre-configured with the server, additional profiles can be added through the Trust store, accessible under the Security menu.

Note: This payload is encrypted transport of VQ data (classified as PII) using TLS.

Address

Enter the IP address of the remote fault and performance monitoring application. MBG will send voice quality statistical data to this address.

Port

Enter the port number of the remote fault and performance monitoring application. MBG will send voice quality statistical data to this port.
Note:
  • Ensure that the UDP ports are the same as those configured in the Voice Quality Reporting application.

  • Ensure that you enable the UDP protocol under SIP options in the MBG settings.

Transport

Select either of the following options as the encrypted transport type for voice quality data for SIP PUBLISH:
  • UDP

  • TCP

  • TLS
