Service Description Values

MiNet and SIP port ranges

Field names:

  • MiNet and SIP audio starting port

  • MiNet and SIP Audio ending port

  • MiNet and SIP video starting port

  • MiNet and SIP Video ending port

Use the screen tools to set the range of ports available for use by MiNet and SIP calls.

Use the following guidelines to calculate how many ports you require for MiNet and SIP calls:

  • For a typical MiNet call with audio, four UDP ports are required: two for audio and two for RTCP voice. As a rule of thumb, we recommend that you open a number of ports equivalent to four times the number of devices in your system. For example, if you have 2499 devices (4 x 2499 = 9996), open 9996 ports (from the starting port of 20002 to the ending port of 29999).

  • For a typical SIP call with voice and video, eight UDP ports are required: two for audio and two for RTCP voice plus two for video and two for RTCP video. Port allocation can become more complex depending on the device type. For example, a two-line SIP device will have zero, two, or four ports allocated at any given time. A 24-port ATA device could have any multiple of two between zero and 48. A general guideline is to allow two times the number of ports or lines that the device supports.

Defaults:

  • MiNet & SIP audio starting port is 20002

  • MiNet & SIP audio ending port is 29999

  • MiNet & SIP video starting port is 30000

  • MiNet & SIP video ending port is 30999

Call Recording port ranges

Field names:

  • Call Recording starting port

  • Call Recording ending port

Use the screen tools to set the range of ports available for use by the secure Recording Connector (SRC) on MBG.

Defaults:

  • Starting port is 35000

  • Ending port is 35999
