Add or Edit MiNet Devices

Use this procedure to add MiNET devices and register their credentials for secure authentication.

Note that MiNet device access is restricted to authorized users by default. Although we don't recommend it, you can lift the restriction and allow users to pass through directly to the ICP.

Note: When using MBG in conjunction with MiNet devices on a MiVoice Business, set the NAT Address Type for the devices to “Native” on the PBX.

To add a MiNet device:

  1. On the MBG main page, click the Teleworking tab and click MiNet.
  2. Click the + sign.
  3. Update the device options as required and then click Save.

    MiNET Device Options

    Field

    Description

    Notes

    Profile

    Enabled

Select to enable the set and allow it to connect to the ICP. Clear the check box to disable access.

If the global Restrict MiNet Devices setting on the Settings screen is enabled (True), then you must select this check box to enable ICP connection for the device with these credentials.

This setting has no effect if the global Restrict MiNet Devices setting on the Settings screen is disabled (False).

    MAC Address

Enter the MAC address of the phone manually, if required.

    • If the installer password is enabled on the Network > ICPs tab, the device connects on its first attempt and you are prompted to enter the install password. The device appears on the Teleworking > MiNet devices tab as Enabled, with default values, and is added to the ICP associated with that installer password.

    • If the installer password is not enabled and an unregistered remote device attempts to connect, the server automatically registers the MAC address and configures the device as "Disabled". You must modify the appropriate Device ID and select the Enabled check box to allow access for that device.

    • You can add a device to the list by manually entering the MAC address before deploying the device.

    Description

Enter a text description for the set.

    Alphanumeric entry. Maximum 256 digits.

    Connection

    Configured ICP

Select a default ICP to assign to this device.

    Cluster Zone

Assign this device to a cluster zone.

Refer to Configure a Cluster Zonefor more information.

    Media

    Force set-side codec

In order to reduce the amount of bandwidth consumed on the Internet side of the connection, you can select the compression codec to apply to the voice traffic going to the remote MiNET set.

    • Use primary setting to allow the selected remote device to use the global set-side codec option programmed on the Settings screen.

    • Disabled to allow the selected remote device to select the codec.

    • G.729a to force the selected remote device to use G.729 A-law.

    • G.711u to force the selected remote device to use G.711 μ-law.

    • G.711a to force the selected remote device to use G.711 A-law.

Note: Not supported for MiCollab deployments.

    Default is Use primary setting.

    Codec support

If you are doing secure call recording and the 3rd-party call recording equipment (CRE) only supports G.711a, G.711u and G.729a, you can restrict MBG to using those codecs. If you are not operating under these limitations, you should allow MBG to use an unrestricted range of codecs.

    • Use primary setting to allow the selected remote device to use the global Codec support setting programmed on the Settings screen.

    • Unrestricted to the selected remote device to use any codec.

    • Restricted to G.729, G.711 to force the selected remote device to useG.711a, G.711u, or G.729a.

    Default is Use primary setting.

    Local streaming between device calls

    Select an option:

    • Use primary setting to allow the selected remote device to use the global local streaming option programmed on the Settings screen.

    • Always to force the remote device to use local streaming always.

    • Never to prevent the remote device from using local streaming.

    Default is Use primary setting.

    Bypass streaming between device calls

    Select an option:
    • Use global setting: allow the selected remote device to use the global BYPASS streaming option programmed on the Settings screen.

    • Enabled: force the remote device to use BYPASS streaming always.

    • Disabled: prevent the remote device from using BYPASS streaming. Normal streaming will be used.

    Notes:

    • MBG supports standard SRTP on both the set side and the switch side (in compliance with RFC 3711 and RFC 4771). To implement end-to-end security, enable SRTP on both the MiVoice Business and MBG. MBG will then facilitate secure communication between remote and local devices.

    • Disable SRTP only when instructed to do so by Mitel Product Support.

    Default is Use Gloabasetting.

    RTP Framesize

This setting overrides the default value requested by the ICP or SIP peer request. It should be changed only if your system has specific requirements. For more information about RTP frame size, see the Engineering Guidelines.

    • Use primary setting to allow the selected remote IP Phone to use the global RTP Framesize setting programmed on the Settings screen.

    Default is Use primary setting.

    Time

    Time format

Select 12 hour or 24 hour clock or

Use primary setting to use the global time format programmed on the Settings screen.

    Default is Use primary setting.

    Timezone

Select your time zone from the list or select "----" to have the ICP control the set's time settings.

    Default is "----"

    Tone Injection

    Enabled

With this option enabled, a configurable tone will be injected into all calls. See Tone Injection for details.

    • Frequency sets the pitch of the tone.

    • Duration defines the length of the tone.

    • Interval controls the time between the played tones.

    • Volume sets the volume of the tone. The values towards zero are louder.

    • Mix/Replace controls whether to mix the tone into the audio stream, or replace the audio stream with the tone while playing.

    • Direction defines whether to play the tone in the audio stream going towards:

      • RX: the set

      • TX: the ICP

      • RXTX: both

Note: To disable the tone, clear the Enabled option and select Use primary.

    Default is Use primary setting.
