What's New for this Release
Installing Newer Versions of MBG on MiCollab
Until MiCollab Release 9.5, MiVoice Border Gateway (MBG) releases were released in parallel with MiCollab. Going forward, newer MBG releases can be released in between major/minor MiCollab releases. This allows MBG specific enhancements to be released without waiting for MiCollab.
- For MBG clusters, the MiCollab embedded MBG must match the version of the other clustered MBGs.
- As an MBG administrator, if you want to upgrade MBG and an MBG cluster exists, you must inform the MiCollab administrator and have them upgrade the MiCollab with the new version of MBG first.
By using existing methodologies in MiCollab, technicians can choose a newer MiCollab manifest with a new MBG release. Major and minor MiCollab releases will still reference an MBG release, but the Partner will now be able to upgrade the MiCollab release with a newer MBG version (if required) before the next major or minor MiCollab release. Refer to MiCollab training and documentation for information on MiCollab installations and upgrades.
WebRTC Enhancements
MiVoice Border Gateway (MBG) continues to support a WebRTC solution involving MiCollab, MBG, MiVoice Business (MiVB), and MiContact Center Business (MiCC B). New in MBG Rel 11.4 is the support for MiCollab ACD WebRTC Softphones, Call Recording and Resiliency with MiVB with a new mode, WebRTC Pro.
Refer to the MiCollab ACD WebRTC Pro Softphone Integration Guide for configuration information.
Although, WebRTC Pro is available in MBG Release 11.4, it’s functionality will not occur until MBG Release 11.4 SP1. Refer to the MBG Release Notes to be informed when MBG 11.4 SP1 is available.
CloudLink Support (MiVB Only)
Mitel CloudLink is a cloud computing platform that enables communication currently only between MiVoice Business and cloud-based applications (Mitel or developed by 3rd party). To enable this solution, you need MiVB, a Virtual Machine with CloudLink Gateway and MBG, MiCollab, the CloudLink Platform, and the CloudLink applications (Mitel or developed by 3rd party).
Bulk Provisioning Enhancements
With MBG Release 11.4, Bulk Provisioning user interface has been enhanced to include MiNet devices, SIP profiles, SIP trunks, and ICPs.
Support for new Mitel Devices
Mitel added new devices with WiFi capability to the Mitel IP Phone portfolio. As such, new device types are required to support these.
- 6920w
- 6930w
- 6940w
- 6930L
- The w in the device name indicates WiFi.
- The L in the device name indicates a 6930 IP Phone without Bluetooth.
- To support new phones the corresponding new version of the PBX must also be available and installed.
Trunk Resiliency
With the introduction of CloudLink solutions with MBG providing SIP Trunking, it is very important to ensure that MBG connections (SIP Trunks) involving CloudLink applications are as resilient as possible.
MBG Release 11.4 supports the ability to automatically re-register trunks if a failover occurs. To achieve resiliency, DNS servers can be configured to contain more than one MBG server. The DNS will point to other MBGs within the MBG Cluster in the event of an MBG failure.
RE-INVITE CONVERSION no longer supported
RE-INVITE CONVERSION functionality is no longer supported as of MBG 11.4 -- SIP TRUNK carriers MUST now support both FASTSTART and SLOWSTART SDP offer/answer exchanges as per mandatory requirements of RFC 3261 sections 13.2.1/13.3.1 in order to correctly inter-operate with MBG.
RE-INVITE FILTERING no longer supported
RE-INVITE FILTERING functionality is no longer supported as of MBG 11.4 -- SIP TRUNK carriers MUST now support RE-INVITEs as per mandatory requirements of RFC 3261 section 14 in order to correctly inter-operate with MBG.
