Installation and Upgrades
- MBG 11.3 runs on Mitel Standard Linux Release 11.0. Before upgrading to MBG 11.3, verify that your server hardware is compatible with CentOS Linux 7.
- MSL 11.0 and later releases use the Mitel Software Download Center, supported by a global content distribution network to increase speed and reliability of downloads.
- For Virtual MBG deployments, the Small Business configuration now requires 2 GB of RAM. Refer to the Virtual Appliance Deployment Guide.
The MiVB RAY BAUM'S Act Solution
MiVoice Business (MiVB), as an MLTS, implements Section 506 of RAY BAUM’s Act and Kari´s law support in conjunction with third-party Next Generation 911 (NG911) emergency service providers in the USA. With the RAY BAUM’s Act solution, the Mitel MiVoice Border Gateway (MBG) is used as an SBC (Session Border Controller) between MiVB and the third-party NG911 provider in the solution. Refer to RAY BAUM's Act General Overview and Solution Deployment Guide for details.
Management
- The MiVoice Border Gateway (MBG) user interface (UI) is restructured to provide a more service-oriented solution. "Remote Proxy configuration” is now available in the MBG UI.
- The MBG UI is enhanced to include an option that enables searching within the UI. This option is available on the main menu bar at the top right corner of the interface. The administrator can use this feature to find where to configure or view commonly used MBG options.
- The MBG Dashboard has a new look and feel. The purpose is to provide more visual or per-service indicators to the administrator.
- The Packet Trace diagnostics tool is redesigned to indicate that there are two types of traces and that the data captured by each is different.
- The global trace is now a rotating capture (that is, the global tcpdump rotates the trace file automatically every time the file size reaches 200 MB) limited to 1.2 GB and does not stop when leaving the interface. This trace automatically stops when there is less than 5 GB of disk space left.
- Starting the global trace also starts signalling pcap, mainly to help troubleshoot MiCollab client that connect over SIP TLS.
- The Fetch all button downloads all the traces and the same logs that would be included in Fetch Logs.
MiNet Devices
- Mitel 6905, 6910, and 6970 series IP Phones can be used as teleworker devices on MBG with a MiVoice Business.
SIP Devices
- Support for push notification on MiCollab Android client in MiCollab 9.0.
- The MBG 11.2 and later improves the existing SIP LOCAL streaming mode.
Note: Refer to the
MBG Engineering Guidelines (available at
Mitel Document Center) for specific requirements of SIP LOCAL streaming.
SIP Trunks
- As of MBG 11.0, SIP Trunking is supported over TLS in SRV MODE.
- SIP Trunking resiliency with DNS SRV has been enhanced to support re-registration before sending a call to a new gateway. This feature is supported for providers who use the same credentials for all SIP requests.
Default SSL ciphers
- For the new installations, the default SSL ciphers will be Intermediate (TLS v1.2+).
Note:
- When a legacy device is upgraded to Release 11.2 or later, there will be no change in the SSL cipher configuration.
- For enhanced security, it is recommended that you set the SSL ciphers for the existing systems to Intermediate. For doing this, the admin will need to change the SSL ciphers from Legacy to Intermediate.
- Compat 8.1 is no longer available.
- To change the SSL ciphers configuration, go to System > Settings > Service Parameters, and in the SSL ciphers field, choose an option (Legacy/ Intermediate/ High) from the drop-down list.
Auto-Load of new Web Certificate
- webRTC supports automatic detection of changes in the web certificate and uploads the new certificate. Therefore, it is no longer required to restart webRTC for the new certificate to take effect.
